Francois Bernard (French, 1812-1875). Pair of oil on canvas portraits, man and woman, Edward M. Nalle and Charlotte Anne Waterman Nalle. Each signed and dated 1875 center left and right. Each 29 1/4" x 24" (with frames 40" x 35 1/4"). Both with some inpainting, varnished, crazing throughout, relined; frames both with chips and losses, one frame with larger cracks and repairs. Edward M. and Charlotte Anne Waterman Nalle of Bloomingdale Farm, near Somerset, Orange County, VA. Edward M. Nalle was born about 1815 in Culpeper County, VA, died October 11, 1884, Bloomingdale Farm.
