Richard Marshall Merkin (American, 1938-2009). Mixed media on paper, Bix Beiderbeck, signed lower right Merkin, sheet 16 3/4" x 11 1/2" (with frame 24 1/4" x 18 1/2"); with a framed photo of Beiderbeck, circa 1931, 8 3/4" x 5 1/4" (with frame 14 5/8" x 11"). Provenance, Merkin: Christie’s, sale 1672, The Personal Property of Bobby Short, February 16, 2006, lot 75; private collection Brooklyn, NY. Minor paint loss to both frames.
