Johannes Wierix (Flemish, 1549-c. 1620), after Albrecht Durer (German, 1471-1528). Engraving, Melencolia I. "Johan Wiricx [sic] Fecit Ann 1602" printed in the lower margin. Sheet 9 3/8" x 7 1/2" (with frame 14 5/8" x 12 5/8”). Light toning to paper and smudging in the margins; chips and losses to frame, some discoloration to linen mat. Provenance: Estate of Princess Maria "Mimi" Romanoff.
