Pair of Japanese 6 panel folding screens, willows over the Uji River bridge. Hand painted silver leaf, one with silver moon, one with water wheel. Christie’s label dated 11-6-81, lot 593 on the frame of one. Silver moon screen 67 1/2"H x 147 1/2"L (4 center panels each 24 3/8"W); water wheel screen 67 5/8"H x 147 1/2"L (4 center panels each 24 3/8"W). Both as is. Silver moon screen panels all separated, panels all with large vertical tears and paper peeling and separating, scratches and some discoloration throughout, paper backing with holes, tears and repairs, chips to wood frame; water wheel screen left two panels separated and 4 remaining panels all partially separated, all with large vertical tears and paper peeling and separating, panel 2nd from left with two holes in paper, paper backing with holes, tears and repairs, chips to wood frame. Provenance: Estate of Princess Maria "Mimi" Romanoff.
