Description
Victorian Renaissance Revival armchair in the style of George Hunzinger. The frame is constructed of carved wood with decorative burl wood veneers on the back crest and front apron. The chair features a high rectangular back topped with an architectural crest that includes carved finials and incised linear and foliate details. The seat, back, and armrests are upholstered in a pale gold and light blue-grey damask floral fabric with a decorative gimp border. The chair rests on legs with scrolling details and is fitted with small casters for mobility. 40 3/4″ H x 26 1/2″ W x 27 1/2″ D. Seat height 14″ H.
Condition report:
There is a notable split in the wood frame where the right arm assembly meets the diagonal bracing. The wood finish shows scattered scuffs, scratches, and areas of finish loss, particularly on the burl wood panels. The upholstery displays light overall wear and minor pilling consistent with age and use.
