Description
A Louis XVI style nightstand constructed of oak. The rectangular case is surmounted by an inset green marble top. The front features a single upper drawer decorated with an ornate relief-carved floral and foliate motif. Below the drawer is a cubby compartment enclosed by a horizontal tambour door with a small circular brass knob. The construction utilizes mortise and tenon joinery with visible wooden pins on the side panels. Decorative neoclassical elements include relief-carved floral blocks at the corners, a fluted apron running below the tambour compartment, and square tapered legs with vertical fluting. 32″ H x 14.5″ W x 13.5″ D.
Condition report:
There are minor nicks, scuffs, and small areas of finish loss throughout the oak frame, particularly on the edges and lower legs. Visible water spotting and finish discoloration are present on the lower portions of both side panels. The inset green marble top is structurally sound with minor surface scratches. The tambour door catches and sticks at multiple points, and does not fully shut. The drawer is missing its knob, and the interior shows typical dust and light staining.
