Description
Two framed pieces of memorabilia including the April 2000 issue of National Geographic magazine, featuring a Great White Shark on the cover and an article by Peter Benchley. The magazine is professionally mounted in a double-sided silver-toned metal frame with white matting, allowing for the display of the Behind the Scenes page on the verso, which includes photographs of author Peter Benchley and photoengineer Walter Boggs with sealcams. The second item is a color C-print photograph depicting Michael Richey during the production of the film The Island. The photograph is housed in a silver-toned metal clip-back frame. The photograph is unsigned. 13 1/4" H x 9 3/4" W x 5/8" D.
From the personal collection of Peter Benchley (American, 1940–2006), acclaimed author of Jaws, accomplished diver, and prominent advocate for ocean and shark conservation.
Condition report:
The underwater photograph exhibits a significant area of surface abrasion and emulsion loss along the right white border. There is noticeable discoloration and fading at the bottom edge of the photo image. Both metal frames show minor surface scuffing and light wear consistent with age. A small amount of dust is trapped beneath the glass of the clip-back frame.
