Sir Hugh Walpole (England, 1884-1941). The Young Enchanted. A Romantic Story. First edition book, 1921. Published: Macmillan & Co. Limited, St. Martin’s Street, London. Printed by R. & R. Clark, Limited, Edinburg. 5 1/4" x 7 3/4".
With inscription on front endpaper from Walpole to author Arnold Bennett: "To Arnold Bennett, Affectionately, from Hugh Walpole. No: 8. ’21". Notation in pencil on front pastedown "From the library of Arnold Bennett, sold at Sotheby’s 27/7/31".
Minor wear at corners and edges and to spine; foxing to first few leaves and last pages, newsprint biography of Hugh Walpole affixed to front pastedown, some discoloration to front and rear endpapers, writing in pencil rear endpaper and pastedown.
Provenance: Totteridge Book Shop, Madison Avenue, New York, 1978; private collection New York City; thence by descent.
