Merope. First edition, 1858. Longman, Brown, Green, Longmans, & Roberts, London; printed by Spottiswoode and Co., London. With 2 page and 32 page advertisements at rear. Notations in ink and pencil on front pastedown and endpaper, front endpaper and half title page separated from binding, foxing, binding loose, corners bumped, shelf wear, fraying to spine, cloth torn on spine. Provenance: David Mason Books, Toronto, Canada, 1979; private collection, New York City; thence by descent.
On Translating Homer. Last Words. A Lecture Given at Oxford. First edition, 1862. Longman, Green, Longman, and Roberts, London; printed by Spottiswoode and Co., London. With inscription from Arnold on half title page: "With the author’s regards–". Advertisements on front and rear pastedowns. Scratches and discoloration to boards, corners bumped, shelf wear, cloth torn on spine, binding loose, some foxing, tear to front pastedown, notations in pencil, Edwin Holden 1894 Ex-libris bookplate. Provenance: Black Sun Books, New York, 4/6/1982; private collection, New York City; thence by descent.
