Charles Dickens (England, 1812-1870). Bleak House, first edition, in 20 monthly parts bound in 19 (XIX and XX combined). March 1852-September 1853. Bradbury & Evans, London. In white cloth case and green cloth and brown leather faux book slipcase with gilt lettering.

Wear, tears, creases and minor losses to original blue wrappers, foxing to some plates, wear to spines, name written in ink across tops of some wrappers; wear, scratches, losses and fading to leather on case, corners bumped, some shelf wear.

Provenance: Sotheby Parke Bernet, New York, sale 3209, lot 193, 5/18/1971; private collection, New York City; thence by descent.
