Charles Dickens (England, 1812-1870). Memoirs of Joseph Grimaldi, in 2 volumes. First edition, first state, 1838. Richard Bentley, London; printed by Samuel Bentley, London. Edited by "Boz", with illustrations by George Cruikshank. Original pink cloth boards with vines and flowers and gilt lettering with clown on spines. 36 pages of advertising at rear of volume II (pages of advertising catalog unopened).

Corners bumped and fraying, some wear and fraying to spines, some wear and fading to pink cloth, bindings loose, some separation of front board volume II, notations in pencil front endpaper volume I, plate for The Last Song and some leaves separating from binding volume II.
