Charles Dickens (England, 1812-1870). The Life and Adventures of Martin Chuzzlewit. First edition, 1844. Chapman and Hall, London; printed by Bradbury and Evans, London. Illustrations by Phiz (Hablot Knight Browne). With half title, engraved title and errata leaf. "100 [pounds]" on engraved title.
Corners bumped, front and rear boards and spine detached, fraying and losses to spine, binding loose, plate and pages 289-290 detached from binding (pages present), foxing to plates and some foxing to pages, notations in pencil front pastedown.
Provenance: Private collection, New York City; thence by descent.
