William Henry Mauldin (American, 1921-2003). Print of Mauldin’s cartoon for the Chicago Sun-Times, Lincoln grieving following the assassination of President John F. Kennedy. Signed and dated 1963 in the plate lower right.
Framed with a signed letter from Senator Robert F. Kennedy on United States Senate letterhead, dated January 19, 1966.
"Dear Bill, I have just learned from Mr. Leonard Kenworthy of your generous decision to donate the fee for the use of your cartoon to the John Fitzgerald Kennedy Library. Our family is most appreciative — we are most grateful to you for your friendship. With many warm regards, Sincerely, Robert F. Kennedy". Hand signed Bob and inscribed "my best to you, Bob."
