David Davidovich Burliuk (Russian/American, 1882-1967). Oil on burlap laid down on board portrait of a fisherman Bonin, Japan 1920. Signed Burliuk and dated lower left and signed in Cryrillic lower right. 23" x 18 1/2" (overall with frame 30" x 25 1/2"). With remnants of a gallery label, exhibition label from The Parrish Art Museum circa 1978, partial Japanese label, and David Burlyuck Artist. Poet. Moskow. Yokohama Nakamura-cho. 38 business card with hand written notations all on verso. Crazing throughout, burlap appears to be lifting from board in some sections.
