Civil War discharge letter; Private from A Company, 3rd Regiment of New York Calvary Volunteers under Captain James R. Chamberlin. Enrolled June 13th, 1861 for 3 years. Discharged July 17th 1864 due to expiration of terms of enlistment. Letter received at Jones Landing, Virginia, July 17th 1864. Stamp upper right "$100 bounty paid, July 28, 1866. D. Robinson, Paymaster." Signed lower right. Inscribed lower left and upper right. 10 1/4" x 8" (with 13 1/2" x 11 1/2"). Toning and creasing to paper.
