James Abbott McNeill Whistler (American, 1834-1903). Etching, Thames Police. Signed and dated 1859 in the plate lower right. Third state. Loan label Mr. Stuart Chevalier, 2 William Schaus New York paper labels, paper label with info and Christie’s auction tags 1997 all on verso. Plate 5 7/8" x 8 3/4" (with frame 13" x 16"). Waviness to paper in margins, crease through signature and margin lower right; losses to frame, frame separating at corners.
