Needlework sampler, "Go to the ant thou sluggard, consider her ways and be wise / and all with half an eye may see that kitty is the busy bee / let the pursuit of virtue and honor be the first object of your life / contented mind is a continual feast / Catharine [illegible] Pencombe Herefordshire 1786. 11 1/4" x 8" (with frame 14 1/4" x 11"). Staining, discoloration, fading, fraying, tears throughout; chips and losses to frame.
