Russian wood icon, Saint George on his horse, slaying a dragon. Hand painted with gilt painting, lettering in Cyrillic in the background. 12 1/4" x 10 1/2" x 1". Minor paint loss and scratches throughout, paint loss to lettering, horizontal scratch through top of horse’s head and chips and losses to gilt painting above, chips and losses to wood and gesso at corners and along edges. Provenance: Estate of Princess Maria "Mimi" Romanoff.
