After Antoine Maurin (French, 1793-1860); after Michelangelo Buonarroti (Italian, 1475-1564). Lithograph, Maurin after the drawing by Michelangelo, Naked archers shooting at a target attached to a herm, Cupid sleeping below. Lithograph by LeMercier. With ostrich stamp below Maurin’s name in the lower margin and captioned in French. Frederick Keppel & Co., New York paper label on verso with handwritten info: "From the fresco by Raphael done after an original drawing by Michel Angelo. Fine and very rare." 15 3/4" x 22 3/8" (with frame 17 3/8" x 23 3/4"). Toning and foxing to paper, staining and waviness through the lettering in the lower left margin; frame with chips, losses and separation at corners. Provenance: Estate of Princess Maria "Mimi" Romanoff.
