Tony Walton (British, 1934-2022) and Richard Williams (Canadian / British, 1933-2019). After the Rain (film project). Film project materials. First Treatment, mixed media with pencil, ink, gouache and collage on paper. 65 pages, with 7 additional copies of various pages, together in a black folio. Each sheet 13 7/8" x 22". With a second complete copy of the First Treatment printed on 10 1/2" x 16 1/2" paper and in a black folio; a sketchbook with an earlier version of the treatment written and drawn in ink and pencil and with additional loose pages; a folder containing the typed synopsis for the film, 20+ sketches in ink and pencil on tracing paper and a print of the Richard Williams drawn model sheet of The Grand Vizier (The Thief and the Cobbler). All as is. Created by Tony Walton and Richard Williams for the proposed film version of After the Rain, 1969. Based on John Bowen’s 1958 novel, After the Rain was staged as a play in 1966 in London, and the play premiered in the U.S. in 1967. The Walton / Williams film adaptation does not appear to have ever been made.
