Tony Walton (British, 1934-2022). The Wiz (film). Group of 50+ prints, including 42 individual character / costume photo prints, various characters including Cowardly Lion (Ted Ross), Tin Man (Nipsey Russell), The Wiz (Richard Pryor), Scarecrow (Michael Jackson), Dorothy (Diana Ross), Evillene The Wicked Witch of the West (Mabel King), including many duplicates; 9 photo prints "Ease on Down", all duplicates of the same image; and 3 photo prints "Glinda & The Snow Babies" all duplicates of the same image. All initialed TW in the plate. All printed on Kodak photo paper. Each sheet 24" x 19 1/2". All as is and with wear, stains and other discoloration, tears, creases and other losses. Created by Tony Walton for the film The Wiz, Universal, 1978. Tony Walton was the production designer and did the costumes for The Wiz, and was nominated for 2 Academy Awards in 1979 – Best Costume Design, and Best Art Direction – for his work on the film.
