Tony Walton (British, 1934-2022). Columbia Disco (proposed nightclubs). 2 portfolios containing original artwork, photos, blueprints and other papers related to the "Discomorphosis" project, which proposed converting existing movie theaters into discos following the final film showing at night. Portfolio 1: 8 black & white photos on foam core of various movie theater interiors "pre-conversion". Portfolio 2: 9 original drawings, pencil and blue crayon on tracing paper, with 12 copies, 10 additional prints and a group of negatives of the same images; 5 blueprints for various proposed elements of the nightclubs, and a folder with the typed proposal titled "Discomorphosis: Adding a Discotheque to an Operating Cinema". Largest foam core photo 23 1/4" x 28 7/8". All as and with wear, original drawings and copies all stored rolled and with vertical creases throughout. Created by Tony Walton and others for the proposed Columbia Disco / Discomorphosis project, c. 1978.
