Tony Walton (British, 1934-2022). All That Jazz (film). Group of 14 rough sketches for the poster art for the work of the film’s main character, Joe Gideon (Roy Scheider). Productions including Posin’, Six-A-Day, New York Rag, Paradise Alley, Duet in Brass and others. 3 in pencil and 11 in red pencil, all on tracing paper. Most sheets 17" x 14". All as is and in production used condition. Created by Tony Walton for the film All That Jazz, Columbia Pictures, 1979. A loosely autobiographical story based on the film’s writer / director Bob Fosse, All That Jazz was nominated for multiple Academy Awards in 1979, including Best Picture, Best Director (Fosse), Best Actor (Scheider) and Best Screenplay (Fosse & Robert Alan Aurthur). Tony Walton (along with Philip Rosenberg, Edward Stewart and Gary Brink) won the Academy Award for Best Art Direction. Fosse’s work on All That Jazz also won him the Palme d’Or at Cannes in 1980. Walton’s official credit on the film is Fantasy Designer.
