Tony Walton (British, 1934-2022). Caligula. Grouping of original costume and set design artwork. 18 pieces original costume design artwork, mixed media with ink, gouache, charcoal and acrylic, most with Tony Walton’s notations in ink and pencil and with attached fabric swatches. With an acrylic painted backdrop. Each costume sheet 19 3/4" x 13 1/2". All as is and in production used condition. Created by Tony Walton for the West End production of Albert Camus’ Caligula, Phoenix Theatre, London, 1964. Walton did both the scenic and costume design for the show, and also designed the poster.
