Tony Walton (British, 1934-2022). Sophisticated Ladies. Cotton Club drop for set model, and a group of set model pieces. Cotton Club drop, mixed media with gouache, collage, mirrored sections on black illustration board. With a group of various model pieces, mixed media with wood, acrylic, cardboard, paper, metal and other materials. Cotton Club drop 16 1/2" x 23 3/4". All as is and in production used condition, model pieces with some missing sections. Created by Tony Walton for the Broadway production of Sophisticated Ladies, Lunt-Fontanne Theatre, 1981-1983. Sophisticated Ladies was nominated for the Tony for Best Musical in 1981.
