Tony Walton (British, 1934-2022). The Real Thing. 4 posters for Domek Z Kart (House of Cards), photo prints, 2 on foam core and 2 on board, 1 with acetate overlay with lettering. Each 22" x 14". All as is and in production used condition. House of Cards is the play-within-a-play, written by The Real Thing’s Henry (Jeremy Irons). The posters list "M. Peschkowsky" as the director, The Real Thing’s director Mike Nichols was born Igor Mikhail Peschkowsky. Created by Tony Walton for the Broadway production of The Real Thing, Plymouth Theatre, 1984-1985, and a possible later national tour. In 1984 Tony Walton was nominated for the Drama Desk Award for Outstanding Set Design and the Tony Award for Best Scenic Design. The Real Thing won the Drama Desk Award for Outstanding New Play in 1984, and Tom Stoppard won the Tony for Best Play the same year. Several members of show’s cast, including Glenn Close, Jeremy Irons and Christine Baranski all won Tony Awards for their work on the show, as did director Mike Nichols.
