Tony Walton (British, 1934-2022). Conversations With My Father. Group of set design artwork, photos, research materials. 9 pieces original artwork for various set elements, multiple mediums, including collage, cardboard, gouache, acrylic, ink, pencil. Pieces including wall treatments, Atomic Cocktails, Vestibule Lamp Shade, Banner and 3 sketches on tracing paper (2 sepia ink, 1 pencil). Lamp Shade 12 3/4" x 8 3/8" including mount. Tony Walton’s handwritten notations throughout. With a group of set model photos, a group of research and reference photos for the set design, a blue-line copy of Pat Collins’s lighting plot, and a folder of 8 collage flash cards with corresponding sketches on tracing paper. All as is and in production used condition. Created by Tony Walton for the Broadway production of Conversations With My Father, Royale Theatre, 1992-1993. Judd Hirsch won the Tony Award in 1992 for Best Actor in a Play for his performance as Eddie. Hirsch’s co-star Tony Shalhoub and director Daniel Sullivan were nominated the same year.
