Tony Walton (British, 1934-2022). Noel & Gertie / If Love Were All. 4 portfolios of set, costume and poster design artwork, notes and other papers. Portfolio 1: If Love Were All window card poster, 50+ copied pages of sketches and reference materials for the Noel & Gertie poster, original poster design sketch in blue crayon on tracing paper and 5 copies of the same image. Portfolio 2: Noel & Gertie basic set sketch in pencil on black illustration board initialed TW and dated 1998, a set sketch on black card, 40 copies of costume design sketches. Portfolios 3 and 4: handwritten and photocopied notes, reference and research materials, photocopies of set and poster design sketches, 5 rough character sketches on tracing paper. Basic set drawing 11 1/2" x 18 1/2". All as is and in production used condition. Created and compiled by Tony Walton for the regional theater production of Noel and Gertie, Bay Street Theatre, Sag Harbor, New York, 1998; and the later adaptation, the off-Broadway production If Love Were All, Lucille Lortel Theatre, New York, 1999.
