Tony Walton (British, 1934-2022). Selwyn Theatre / American Airlines Theatre (theater). Group of design artwork for the renovated / restored theater interior. Pre-renovation photo mounted on foam core, 2 interior prints with gouache, ink and gold ink; collage with printed sections, mounted rough of Scott McKowen’s graphic panels with handwritten notations, "Traditional Approach" print with hand additions, signed in ink and with handwritten labels on the mount and Theatre Projects Consultants label and with 3 additional prints of the same image; 2 "Historic Replication" prints with hand additions, both signed ink and with handwritten labels on the mount and Theatre Projects Consultants label. Each 31" x 33 1/4" including mounts. All as is with some wear. Created by Tony Walton for the renovation / redesign of the Selwyn Theatre, redesigned and restored by the Roundabout Theatre Company, 1998-2000. As part of the redesign the Selwyn was renamed The American Airlines Theatre when it reopened in 2000. Today it’s known as the Todd Haimes Theatre. Tony Walton served as the scenic designer on the project. The first show at the newly renovated theater was 2000’s The Man Who Came to Dinner, for which Tony Walton also did the set design.
