Tony Walton (British, 1934-2022). Our Town. 5 pieces scenic design artwork. Original theatre back wall scrim with applique, mixed media with gouache and pencil, with Tony Walton’s notations in the margins and with additional notations affixed to the plastic covering on the mount, 19 3/4" x 26 1/2" including mount. With a color copy of the same image, mounted on illustration board with additional handwritten notations in red pencil; and 3 sketches of Grover’s Corners on tracing paper. All as is and in production used condition. Created by Tony Walton for the production of Our Town at the Westport Country Playhouse, Westport, Connecticut in 2002. After its run at the Westport, the show moved to the Booth Theatre on Broadway for an additional 59 performances. Paul Newman was nominated for a Tony Award for his role as the Stage Manager in 2003.
