Description
Antique Henry L. Mason bowl-back mandolin with original case, late 19th century. Tortoiseshell pickguard inlaid with floral scrollwork and inlays. Marked Henry L. Mason Boston on reverse. Includes original brown leather hard case with trademark stamp reading July 1876. Mandolin 24" L x 7 1/2" W, with case 26" L x 10" W. Mandolin shows signs of age and use including a vertical crack in the soundboard extending below the bridge. Oxidation and surface pitting to tuning plates. Heavy surface wear to leather case including deterioration to closure straps.
