Description
A trio of Chinese lacquered wooden storage chests featuring a distressed black and red finish. The front of each chest is decorated with circular or rectangular vignettes depicting traditional figurative scenes and floral motifs. These central panels are flanked by red vertical borders containing black calligraphic characters including auspicious phrases such as business is thriving and peace through the four seasons. The chests are fitted with metal hardware including top hinges, front latches, and side-mounted ring handles. One chest is equipped with a small integrated front drawer. The interiors reveal natural wood construction, with one unit containing a removable four-compartment divided tray.
