Pop Culture Time Capsule: TV Memorabilia & Vintage Toys
Lot 219:
Sold for: $600
Description
14 original Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles action figures manufactured by Playmates Toys. Each figure is constructed of molded vinyl and plastic, mounted on its original lithographed cardboard card with a clear plastic blister bubble. The assortment features a high concentration of the April O’Neil character, including six (6) examples of the figure in her signature yellow jumpsuit and one (1) "Warrior" variant. The collection further includes core protagonists and antagonists: Leonardo, Raphael, Splinter, Genghis Frog, and a Robotic Foot Soldier. Of particular interest to collectors are the specialty sub-series figures, including a "Talkin’" Leonardo and a "Wacky Action" motorized Creepy Crawlin’ Splinter. Each card back features the original "Clip and Collect" character biography, vital statistics, and cross-promotional graphics showcasing the wider toy line. These items represent the primary production run of the late 1980s and early 1990s, a period of peak cultural significance for the franchise. Dimensions of the lot are approximately 12 inches by 10 inches.
Condition: The collection is in overall good condition, categorized as New Old Stock (NOS). All 14 figures remain factory sealed in their original blister packaging. The cardboard cards show light signs of shelf wear consistent with age, including soft corners, minor edge wear, and light creasing. One package retains a vintage retail price sticker. The plastic bubbles are generally clear and securely attached to the cards, though some may exhibit minor surface scuffing. The internal mechanisms for the "Talkin’" Leonardo and the motorized "Wacky Action" Splinter are untested; due to the age of the items, internal batteries may be depleted or expired.
Notice to bidders: The absence of a condition report does not imply that the lot is in perfect condition. Photos are considered part of the condition report. Complete condition information is available by request, please request no later than 24 hours prior to the auction. All lots are offered and sold "as is", and Willow Auctions will not provide refunds based on condition. Timepiece movements, lighting and electrics have not been tested, and art has not been examined out of the frame unless otherwise stated. We have our own in-house shipping program. Please request in-house shipping, if needed.
