Pop Culture Time Capsule: TV Memorabilia & Vintage Toys
Lot 297:
Three factory-sealed action figures from the iconic DC Super Powers Collection, manufactured by Kenner Products (Canada) Ltd. of Toronto. This lot features rare bilingual (English/French) blister card packaging, a hallmark of Canadian releases. The collection includes one Orion figure (1986, Series 3/33 Back, No. 67130) featuring "Astro-Punch and Changing Face" ("Coup de poing astral et visage changeant") mechanics. Also included are two DeSaad figures (1985, Series 2/23 Back, No. 99890) featuring "Power Action Shock Squeeze" ("Pression d’electrochoc pince") and the promotional "Superman Cape Offer" printed on the card face. Each figure is constructed of molded plastic and vinyl with internal spring-loaded mechanisms to facilitate their signature "Power Action" movements. The card backs feature the "Collect Them All!" illustrated checklist of the series. All three items were manufactured in Hong Kong and are preserved in professional AFA-graded acrylic display cases. Each case measures approximately 10 x 8 x 2 inches.
Condition: All three figures are factory-sealed in their original packaging and have been professionally graded by the Action Figure Authority (AFA). Orion (Serial #15208257) is graded AFA 80+ NM (Near Mint) with subgrades of C80, B85, F85. The first DeSaad (Serial #12106464) is graded AFA 80+ NM with subgrades of C85, B80, F90. The second DeSaad (Serial #17960488) is graded AFA 80 Y-NM with subgrades of C85, B80, F85; the "Y" designation indicates natural age-related yellowing of the plastic blister bubble. The cards exhibit minor shelf wear and edge stress consistent with their age and professional grade. All bubbles remain firmly attached to the card stocks.
Notice to bidders: The absence of a condition report does not imply that the lot is in perfect condition. Photos are considered part of the condition report. Complete condition information is available by request, please request no later than 24 hours prior to the auction. All lots are offered and sold "as is", and Willow Auctions will not provide refunds based on condition. Timepiece movements, lighting and electrics have not been tested, and art has not been examined out of the frame unless otherwise stated. We have our own in-house shipping program. Please request in-house shipping, if needed.
The item is professionally graded AFA 60 Y-EX (Yellow-Excellent), with individual sub-grades of C75 for the card, B60 for the bubble, and F80 for the figure. The cardboard backing exhibits minor edge wear and creasing, particularly concentrated around the punch hole area. The plastic blister bubble shows significant yellowing, a common chemical reaction found in Argentinean Pacipa releases of this era. The figure remains in excellent condition with no visible paint wear or degradation.
