Lot 432:
Description
A Beckwith Organ Company Majestic Grand pump organ, manufactured in Chicago and retailed through Sears, Roebuck and Co. The instrument is constructed from dark-stained wood featuring an elaborate high back with a central beveled mirror, side shelving, and spindle-turned supports. The case is decorated with ornate carvings, fretwork, and gold decals commemorating the 1904 Louisiana Purchase Exposition and the 1907 Jamestown Exposition. The console features a single manual keyboard with the maker name inscribed above the keys. Eight pull-stops with Gothic-style script are present, labeled Bass Coupler, Diapason, Dulciana, Cremona, Celeste, Treble Coupler, Melodia, and Principal. The lot includes a matching round wooden stool with a turned pedestal base and a printed Sears, Roebuck and Co. advertisement for the Majestic Grand model.
The organ is in fair antique condition. The wooden surfaces show expected wear, including dust, minor abrasions, and surface scratches consistent with age. The keyboard shows yellowing to the keys. The bellows and internal mechanical components have not been tested for functionality.
