Description

This vintage Mattel Big Jim Counterspy Detection Van, model number 5259, is a notable example of the popular action figure vehicle line. The van is constructed of molded blue plastic featuring multicolored stripe graphics and a cream-colored roof. The interior includes detailed printed control panels. This particular set is an international release, housed in its original multilingual box with titles in German as Einsatzwagen and Italian as Ruolotte Controspionaggio. Included with the vehicle are the original paper instruction inserts and a sheet of unapplied wheel decals. The items are marked with copyright dates of 1971 and 1981 and indicate Italian manufacture by Mattel, Inc. Dimensions are approximately 12 inches by 22 inches.

Condition: The vehicle body is in good condition with light surface dust and minor scuffing. The set is incomplete, as the wheels and axles are missing. The original cardboard box shows moderate shelf wear, including corner rubbing and creasing. The internal paper ephemera and unapplied decal sheets are well-preserved.

Notice to bidders: The absence of a condition report does not imply that the lot is in perfect condition. Photos are considered part of the condition report. Complete condition information is available by request, please request no later than 24 hours prior to the auction. All lots are offered and sold "as is", and Willow Auctions will not provide refunds based on condition. Timepiece movements, lighting and electrics have not been tested, and art has not been examined out of the frame unless otherwise stated. We have our own in-house shipping program.  Please request in-house shipping, if needed.
