Pop Culture Time Capsule: TV Memorabilia & Vintage Toys
Lot 71:
This diverse collection features nine vintage mechanical and battery-operated toys, primarily preserved in their original period packaging. The centerpiece of the lot is a Masudaya (Modern Toys, Japan) Bell Clanger Red Mountain Express battery-operated locomotive, Model 3963. This piece features a vibrant metallic pink lithographed tin body with a plastic engineer figure and mystery action. Also included is a 1967 Remco Swap Mobile Turbo-Jet Engine Assembly (Style 7062), a plastic accessory kit designed for the Swap Mobile vehicle line. The collection includes several wind-up and friction toys: an SY (Japan) lithographed tin Cymbal Monkey with jumping action; an Eikow (Japan) Mechanical Egg Head; a Running Cat (No. 6938) manufactured in Hong Kong; and a Single Bar Exercise gymnast toy (MS 014) from China, which retains its original printed instructions. Space-themed items include a Universe Boat (ME 767) with gyro action from China and an Outer Space Spider (TA-966) from Taiwan. Completing the lot is a vintage tabletop game from West Germany, featuring a long green and red tin lithographed track with a corresponding illustrated box. Materials across the collection include lithographed tinplate, molded plastic, and cardboard. Measurements for the lot are approximately 18 x 7 inches.
Condition: The items exhibit varying degrees of age-related wear consistent with play and storage. The lithographed tin surfaces generally retain good color and luster with minor scuffs and scratches. The original cardboard boxes show typical shelf wear, including creasing, edge softening, and corner tears. Notable tape repairs are present on the Outer Space Spider and Remco packaging. The Single Bar Exercise toy appears complete with instructions; however, all battery-operated and mechanical functions are untested. Some packaging exhibits multilingual text and original price markings.
Notice to bidders: The absence of a condition report does not imply that the lot is in perfect condition. Photos are considered part of the condition report. Complete condition information is available by request, please request no later than 24 hours prior to the auction. All lots are offered and sold "as is", and Willow Auctions will not provide refunds based on condition. Timepiece movements, lighting and electrics have not been tested, and art has not been examined out of the frame unless otherwise stated. We have our own in-house shipping program. Please request in-house shipping, if needed.
