Description
Carved wooden Santos figure with remnants of polychrome paint and gesso layers throughout. Large rectangular mortises at the shoulders with interior wooden pins, missing arms. 16″ H x 7 1/2″ W x 4″ D.
Condition report:
There is extensive flaking, cracking, and loss to the polychrome paint and gesso layers throughout, revealing the underlying wood. Both arms are missing. The nose shows significant wear. The wood shows age-related cracking, particularly at the base, and some evidence of old metal pins or nails.
