Description
Doulton Lambeth stoneware puzzle jug. Tall neck with circular piercings and rim with several drinking spouts. Inscribed text “Within this jug there is good liquor / tis fit for parson or for vicar / but how to drink and not to spill / will try the utmost of your skill.” Underside marked Doulton Lambeth England. 9″ H x 6 1/2″ diameter.
Condition report:
The jug exhibits a notable vertical hairline crack running down the side of the body. There is minor surface wear, light crazing throughout, and small kiln-fired imperfections on the handle and body. No visible signs of professional repair or restoration.
