Description
Mills Novelty Co. high-top Black Cherry mechanical three-reel slot machine configured for quarter (25-cent) play. The machine is constructed with a cast aluminum front housing finished in a textured “hammered” style, oak wood side panels, an oak base, and a steel back plate. The front casting is decorated with raised cherry motifs with red-painted highlights. The center reel features a label reading BELL-FRUIT-GUM above MILLS NOVELTY CO. CHICAGO. The serial number 519891 is stamped into the front edge of the wooden base. 26 1/4″ H x 16″ W x 15″ D.
Condition report:
The front cast housing shows significant surface wear, including widespread pitting, oxidation, and loss to the original hammered paint finish. The red-painted highlights on the cherry motifs are chipped and worn. The chrome plating on the handle and coin entry exhibits pitting and surface wear. The oak cabinet and base are in generally good condition, showing minor scuffs and surface scratches consistent with age and use. Tested and working. Includes key.
