Description
Group of 13 assorted knives and specialty utility tools of various origins and styles. Notable pieces include a small silver fruit knife with a light bone handle, bearing Birmingham hallmarks for sterling silver (lion passant), the anchor city mark, and the maker mark G.U. attributed to George Unite. A multi-component folding tool labeled THE FISHER features black textured handles and a blue and gold nameplate; its main blade is stamped LRP SOLINGEN GERMANY and includes an awl, a smaller blade, and a flathead screwdriver/bottle opener. A fixed-blade dagger features a cast brass handle in the form of a dragon or stylized beast, with the blade tang stamped SPAIN alongside a rectangular crest mark. Decorative items include a modern obsidian knife with a knapped black blade, sinew-style wrapping, and a bone handle featuring a scrimshaw bison illustration. A large fixed-blade knife features a tiger maple handle secured with three brass pins. A slender dirk or letter opener displays a fluted black wood handle and an etched blade reading orsa sese. The lot also contains a single-blade folding knife with multi-colored confetti celluloid handles, a combination brass cone-shaped punch tool with a folding blade, an intricately carved wood sliding tool, a finger-hole utility knife with layered handle scales, a cross-hatched pocket knife, and a matching wood-handled knife and two-tine fork set. Condition report:
Multiple steel blades show significant surface oxidation and rust. Handles range in condition; the black-painted punch tool shows heavy finish wear and paint loss, and one bone handle exhibits a minor crack. Folding mechanisms are functional but exhibit signs of age.
