Description
A large oval cloisonne enamel vessel featuring an ornate gilt bronze mount, dating to the late 19th century. The piece is fitted with elaborate gilt bronze elements, including a pierced geometric fretwork gallery rim and two handles cast in the form of winged serpentine dragons. The vessel rests on an elaborate quadruped base with scrolling foliate and shell-motif feet. The underside of the base retains a partially torn circular paper label from the French department store Au Bon Marche. 10″ H x 16″ W x 7″ D. Location: 18D
Condition report:
Good antique condition. The gilt bronze mounts show wear and darkening consistent with age, with green verdigris oxidation present on the interior rim. The enamel surface exhibits minor pitting and light surface wear. A small area of white filler or old repair is visible on the exterior gilt rim band. The interior shows general surface grime and oxidation.
