Description
Two original World War I-era color lithograph posters. The first poster, titled Fight or Buy Bonds, Third Liberty Loan, was created in 1917 by Howard Chandler Christy. It is plate-signed Howard Chandler Christy 1917 at the lower right, and the lower right margin bears the printer mark FORBES BOSTON. The second poster, titled Columbia Calls, was designed by Frances Adams Halsted and painted by Vincent Aderente. The lower margins are printed with Designed by FRANCES ADAMS HALSTED and Painted by V. ADERENTE. Both posters are unframed and printed on paper. Largest sheet 40 x 29.75 inches. Location: Bin (Rolled)
Condition report:
They exhibit significant handling creases throughout, horizontal and vertical storage folds, and scattered small tears along the margins. Toning and foxing are present on both sheets. The Aderente poster shows a prominent dark moisture stain in the lower right corner and additional staining in the upper right margin.
