Description
Official bronze participation medal issued for the 1960 Summer Olympic Games held in Rome, Italy. The medal was struck by the firm of Stefano Johnson in Milan. Obverse markings include the signature E. GRECO along the lower right edge. Reverse markings include the perimeter legend and a faint manufacturer mark for S. JOHNSON MILANO on the inner rim near the 4 o’clock position. Diameter: 55 mm. Location: 15C
Condition report:
The medal exhibits significant surface wear and aging, with prominent oxidation and blue-green verdigris spotting concentrated in the recessed areas of the relief. The bronze patina is uneven, showing rubbing to the high points of the design along with minor surface pitting and scratches.
