Description
This large centerpiece bowl features a brilliant-cut crystal basin set within a custom-fitted gilt-bronze mounting. The oval crystal bowl is decorated with a deep diamond-cut pattern across the exterior and a multi-pointed starburst design on the base. The ormolu frame is characterized by two handles sculpted in the form of swan necks with detailed feathering. The mount includes a textured oval gallery and is supported by four scrolled feet embellished with acanthus leaf motifs, with additional foliate brackets at the midpoints of the long sides. No maker marks or signatures are present on the metalwork or the crystal. 12.5″ H x 23″ L x 12″ W. Location: 20C
Condition report:
Good overall condition. The ormolu mount exhibits a natural aged patina with areas of surface oxidation and light wear to the gilded finish. The crystal bowl remains clear with sharp facets; minor flea-bite nicks to the edges of the cutting may be present upon close inspection. One foot is missing its protective felt pad.
