Description
John (Jeno) Friedlinger (Hungary, 1890-1963). Classical still life in a traditional academic style. The composition features a central lobed silver compote overflowing with an abundance of red and green grapes, apples, and peaches. The work is signed friedlinger j. in the lower left corner. It is presented in a substantial, ornate gilded wood frame featuring an off-white inner liner. Sight: 30 x 24 in. Frame: 38.5 x 32 x 2 in.

Condition report:
The oil on canvas surface appears to be in good overall condition. The frame shows a prominent horizontal crack in the upper-left corner of the inner white liner. The ornate outer gilded frame exhibits scattered chips, surface wear, and loss of gilding along the edges and raised decorative elements consistent with age.
