Lot 232:
Description
Eugene Laurent (French, 1832-1898). Bronze sculpture, Le Jeune Moissonneur (boy mowing wheat). Signed E. Laurent on the base. The underside is hollow-cast and features a rectangular metal reinforcing plate and four protective felt pads.
Condition report:
The sculpture is in good antique condition. The patina shows significant wear consistent with age and handling on the high points of the boy\'s back, shoulders, arms, and knees, where the underlying metal is exposed. There is a minor surface scratch on the upper right arm. Moderate dust accumulation and light verdigris oxidation are visible in the deep recessed areas of the wheat sheaves, hair, and woven hat. The scythe is intact and original to the piece. No major cracks, losses, or structural repairs are observed.
