Lot 290:
Description
A tazza-style floor lamp featuring a two-part leaded stained glass shade and a patinated bronze tripod base. The domed shade consists of a lower bowl-shaped section and a matching upper domed cover, featuring a repeating floral rose pattern. The design utilizes variegated pink and red opalescent glass for the blooms, green glass for the leaves, and cream-to-yellow opalescent glass for the background. A textured iridescent glass jewel is centered at the top of the domed cover. The patinated metal base features a tripod design with three tapering legs ending in large feline paw feet. The upper section of the base is ornamented with three lion-mask decorative elements, each holding a textured ring in its mouth. 34″ H x 19″ diameter.
Condition report:
Two of the three tightening brackets used to secure the upper dome to the lower bowl frame are missing; one bracket remains in place. The metalwork shows significant oxidation and green verdigris patina on the paw feet and lion masks, with general surface wear and minor scuffing to the brown patinated finish on the legs. The leaded glass shade exhibits minor surface oxidation on the leaded lines. Several glass segments have surface scratches or small cracks. Irregular leading or dark patches are visible in some areas, potentially indicating old repairs or small missing glass slivers. Tested and working.
