September Uncurated: Art, Furnishings, and Estate Discoveries
Lot 292:
Description
An Art Deco table lamp featuring two kneeling female figures in a bronze-patinated metal finish. The stylized figures are modeled with characteristic period headdresses and streamlined forms, positioned to support a central globe-shaped shade. The shade is composed of irregular, thick chunk glass pieces in a variegated palette of blue, green, yellow, red, and opalescent white, held within a leaded frame. The entire piece is mounted to a black-finished oval base. The lamp is equipped with a brown fabric-wrapped electrical cord and a non-polarized two-prong plug. 9" H x 16" W x 7" D.
Location: 20C
Condition report:
The lamp is in working condition. There is visible wear to the bronze-colored patina on the figures, particularly on the shoulders, knees, and hair. A small casting hole is noted on the back of one figure\'s head, along with a small amount of yellow residue on the top. The black base shows several small chips and scratches around the lower perimeter. The chunk glass shade appears to be intact with no missing elements; the leaded solder lines exhibit aged oxidation. The fabric electrical cord is frayed at the connection point to the plug, and rewiring is recommended for safety. The underside shows surface oxidation on the mounting hardware and wear to the felt protective pads.
