Description

A tall Victorian-style parlor lamp featuring a spherical glass globe shade in frosted amber with high-relief molded floral and foliate patterns. The lamp body includes a bulbous brass-finished metal font with applied decorative escutcheons, supported by a flared pedestal stem. The central stem incorporates a polished onyx sphere set between metal collars, with the upper collar fashioned as a Corinthian-style capital. The assembly rests on a square block of veined onyx, which is mounted to an ornate four-footed cast metal base with scrollwork and lattice details. This lamp has been converted from its original oil configuration to electric and is equipped with modern brown wiring, an in-line thumb switch, and a standard two-prong plug. 31″ H x 9″ W x 9″ D.

Location: 18E

Condition report:

The relief glass shade has a significant chip and multiple radiating cracks originating from the bottom fitter rim. The metal components show moderate surface oxidation, pitting, and scattered loss to the brass-toned finish, particularly on the font. The square onyx base block has small chips along the edges and corners. Tested and functional.
